Mission


  MAEDC strives to develop a healthy economy in the Missoula region. The organization helps employers create quality jobs for area residents, diversify the regional economic base, and improve the economy by taking leadership positions and forming partnerships with other organizations on community issues that affect local economic development. MAEDC helps existing companies expand by providing technical assistance and financing.


The goals of our programs are to:

MAINTAIN existing operations--apply technology and innovation, increase competitiveness and productivity, and reduce costs and barriers to profitability.

EXPAND existing operations--identify new markets and diversification opportunities and assist with site acquisition, financing and permit processes.

DIVERSIFY the economy and increase job availability in the Missoula area.

GENERATE new opportunities--foster innovation and entrepreneurship, specifically applied research and new product development.

ADVOCATE activities to improve the business climate, including changes in tax policy and regulations.

COORDINATE special projects, including international trade and exchanges which enhance the community's position in the global marketplace.

PARTICIPATE in local, regional and statewide program and planning efforts that will strengthen the economic health of the community.

RECRUIT firms from outside of the area and/or convince them to locate branch operations in the Missoula area--respond to "leads" and "target" promotional materials to firms that have a "strategic fit" with the community or add value to our existing resources.

RESEARCH, ASSEMBLE, & PUBLISH information on the area's economy, demographics, and resources and the programs, policies, and regulations affecting economic development. The Missoula Community Profile is a special publication by MAEDC.
