2008 Work Plan


C. Maintain MAEDC’s Public Relations Program and Provide Assistance to Community Economic Development Initiatives


C.1 - Assist the BEAR project by providing staff assistance for steering committee and volunteers to conduct interviews.

C.2 - Continue to publish and distribute Profiles on an annual basis (both in hard copy and on the MAEDC website).

C.3 - Prepare an assessment of the economic impact of MAEDC’s activities and present the report to Missoula County and the City of Missoula.

C.4 - Select companies to receive the CP Higgins and Frank Worden awards, to be presented at the annual meeting.

C.5 - Assist Missoula County and the Missoula Development Authority with implementation of a marketing plan for the County’s Technology District. Finalize incentive guidelines for the District by March 1, 2008.

C.6 - Assist the Missoula Airport Authority with development of a new Master Plan that will to determine the potential of airport property for economic development projects.

C.7 - Continue to issue a monthly “e-newsletter” that is posted and archived on the website and that is sent to all MAEDC stakeholders.

C.8 - Assist the board of directors of Play Ball Missoula with a long-term bond issue that would refinance the organization’s private loan package and ensure the financial viability of Missoula’s civic baseball stadium.

C.9 - Provide financial assistance to the Missoula Downtown Master Plan from MAEDC’s annual CRDC allocation as well as from the State of Montana’s Big Sky Economic Development Trust Fund.

C.10 - Provide technical assistance to the Bonner Community Council regarding an update of the community’s master plan that will also incorporate a project involving the Stimson mill site and a possible new industrial activity for that portion of the site that was formerly the location of Stimson’s plywood plant. Develop marketing materials for the mill site and identify potential companies that may wish to locate at that site.
